So, a few weeks ago, I realized that the “custom banner” that I had for so long on my blog was an eye-burning piece of…something unpleasant. It came as a surprise to me, because I was quite proud of it when I initially made it. Perhaps my senses have become more refined. Perhaps I just never looked at it enough before. Regardless, I have spent the interim time pondering the best way to make a new banner. I wanted it to be unique, to demonstrate all the fun creative things I do/make and have the right feel to it. After much thought, I came up with the following:
In my opinion, it is much classier. And even if it isn’t that, at least it doesn’t burn out my eyes with a noxious yellow-green colour.
And in case you’re wondering what all the photos correspond to:
- My first wedding photo shoot
- Just a stamp, nothing to see here
- Getting crafty with it
- Tiny red panda!
- Ribbon flowers
- Earrings I made a couple of years ago for a very special person
- It’s a tiny (3″ wide) cloud! With star raindrops. It’s so cute it deserves its own post, so stay tuned!
- Easy coconut chocolate sauce
I didn’t realize how important it is to take nice pictures of the final products until I tried to put this banner together. There were so many things I wanted to add but the pictures were just too terrible to get such prominent placing (snickerdoodles, carrot cake…). So, in the future, I will definitely try to take better pictures.
But I need feedback! What do you think? Part of me thinks that the colour balance is a bit off between all the pictures and the brightness of the text background…however, part of me thinks that makes it more “homemade”.
So, seriously, what do you think?
